An easy plant to grow, Native Tamarind (Diploglottis campbellii) can be planted in pots, however, it will need protection from strong winds and is highly sensitive to frost. It's recommended that you keep this plant baby sheltered avoid damage. It produces yummy citrusy yellow/orange fruits with a tart sweet taste that can be eaten raw or added to jams and jellies. The riper the fruit, the sweeter it tastes!

Pluck off fruits when ripe.

It is moderately drought tolerant, requires moist soil and should be watered moderately.

Native Tamarind can be propagated from seeds or from cuttings. Seeds are most likely to take longer to develop compared to cuttings. The plant does well in gardens or in pots.

If potting is the preferred method, a large pot is required for proper development. Pruning should be done regularly to maintain the size of the plant.

Frequent watering is required when the plant is young but can be reduced as the plant grows since it is medium drought resistant.

Diploglottis australis is highly sensitive to frosts and, hence, should be sheltered/ protected from frosts to avoid damage.

They should be protected from strong winds and cold weather.

Compared to other varieties of Tamarind this one has a bigger fruit size and much more flesh. It has a deep flavour of Tamarind and is perfect to be stewed, used in curries, sauces and much more.
