Tropical Australia holds most of the native fruits we know and love. From Davidson Plums, to Finger Limes, they vast majority are indigenous to the humid tropics.

We have a very limited collection of 4 rare native plants:

- Davidson Plum (Davidsonnia jerseyana - endagered in the wild)

- Lemon Aspen

- Native Tamarind (Small leaf tamarind, threatened species)

- Lemon Myrtle

These have been picked specifically for their ability to grow in temperate conditions such as that of Melbourne or Sydney.

Please note, that they are frost sensitive at a young age so for the first year or two, keep in a frost-free location.

Pots: They all make terrific pot plants. Davidson Plum is a great indoor plant (must have a full sun window). Use a high-quality mix without any fillers or fertilizers. Over watering or underwatering are major challenges, please avoid terracotta pots as they absorb water from the soil.

Harvesting:

- Davidson Plum - After 5 years, they will begin to fruit in December. Pick fruit immediately after falling from the trunk.
- Lemon Aspen - Fruit is ready when soft, after 5 years.
- Native Tamarind - Once the seed pods have opened, pick from the tree. 5-10 years for onset of fruit.
- Lemon Myrtle - Pick older leaves as they have the highest oil content (and thus flavour).

Soil: Use a high-quality native soil mix with low phosphorus. We recommend Osmocote Premium Potting Mix (orange colour).

Fertilizer: Native fertilizer, low phosphorus is a must.

Maintenance: Keep pruned as required. Fertilize at the onset of fruiting each year or seasonally as required.

Size:

- Davidson Plum - 10 metres +
- Lemon Aspen - 2-5 metres +
- Native Tamarind - 5 metres +
- Lemon Myrtle - 2 metres +

Davidson Plum
A rare rainforest fruit with large fleshy plums with two seeds inside. They are great when used to make cordials or jams, and are great in desserts. Flavour: Sour, tart, like sour berries.
Lemon Aspen (20-30cm +)
Lemon Aspen is the king of lemony native fruits. High in water, it's flavour resembles lemon sorbet without the sweetest. It's sour, and makes great preserves or sorbets.
Native Tamarind (30cm +)
Small-leaved Tamarind is a small, dense tree that produces large orange fruits with a delicious, tangy pulp. Very easy to grow and harvest.
Lemon Myrtle (30cm +)
The king (or queen) of native ingredients. Similar to lemon grass with a pinch of lime, it's perfect when used fresh in fish, tea, baked goods, or anything you'd use lemon zest for. Very easy to grow.
